Track Day 54 -- PIR With Track Night in America

I'll get back to a writeup for this event when I can, but I didn't even get to take a single picture! I was so busy focusing on making sure my wife had fun with her first solo track event that I just lost myself in that.

For this event I simply changed back to my Continental Extreme Contact Force tires and... I wasn't digging them. I was struggling EVERYWHERE! Front end push from apex to exit, and the tail end would struggle to stabilize on entry AND when I got on the throttle at exit. So I'd go oversteer, understeer, oversteer through every single turn. That doesn't instill confidence. I ran 2 seconds slower than my previous personal best and felt like I was risking the car to do so.

Working with AI through everything I made some suspension changes that helped... but it seems there's a reason why I had so much aero on the car before to have it feel controlled, these tires just weren't up to the task.

Supposedly throwing more aero at these tires to make them behave isn't unreasonable... so I'll crank the rear angle up to 7.8 degrees or so from the current 6.9 degrees, I'll throw one more set of front canards on, and I'll actually up the pressure to 31 off the track (but not HOT off the track, as I rarely remember to leave early). Next event is ORP. We'll see if I can make these tires work with the aero changes.

As much as I want to just go back to Vitour's for every event... I'd be just buying my way into fast lap times when the times really just don't matter. So I'll run through this set of ECF's and my other set when I'm just doing track days, and then I'll use the Vitour's for competition.
