Summer 2025 Track and AX

So documenting each and every single track day, while writing about my Corvette is going to become a bit too much for me... so I'm just going to document the chunks of time inbetween major lemons races!

TNIA - May 23rd

Early in the summer (or late in the spring?) of 2025 Pat and Jesse took the Accordion out to PIR for Track Night in America. They weren't thrilled we were there as we were in a "race car", but the Porsche GT3RS's were fine... eh whatever, we had fun, we did our thing and stayed out of the way. I turned a PB at PIR in this car of 1:38, with pat Turning a 1:40 flat!

Above you can see Pat taking the final corner at PIR in the Accordion!

Here's pat and I posing for a picture after getting back from said track day!

Video from the track day:

CSCC Track Day - Karla's First Track day!

Karla got her first track day at a June 13th event with CSCC. She had a great turn, and we even got some video of it!

TNIA @ The Ridge -- Wed Jun18

Dave and Jesse headed up to the ridge on June 18th for an afternoon event with SCCA Track Night in America. As there's only one car trailer between the group and Dave fits the Accordion the best, the plan was to trailer up the Accordion and have Jesse street drive up the DonorCord.

The DonorCord needed a bit of modification to be decently bearable on the track. While Jesse had cobbled together a harness setup prior to this, it wasn't safe nor allowd by most track organizations. So Jesse got a "universal" harness bar, did a few customizaitons and attached it to the Accordion with a Schroth ASM harness, one of the few style of 4 point harnesses track organizaitons will allow.

With the two cars up there... it was time to see just what sort of differences existed between the two cars!

LAP TIMES AND COMPARISON:

Above is Dave's best lap, a 2:08.120. Not too shabby. Top speed of 111.1, some good corner speeds. Overall, pretty good. The current best time at the ridge in the Accordion is 2:05, so within a reasonable distance of this time and speed.

Dave and Jesse both went out in a session and chasd each other around the track. Above is Dave's best lap during that session, a 2:08.706. We'll compare that here in a second to Jesse's near identical lap time chasing Dave below.

Here's Jesse's best lap from the dueling session, a 2:08.688. While technical .018 seconds faster, with 10hz gps the accuracy is only really down to .1 seconds so we'll chalk this up to being dead even. What matters though, is the speeds getting there!

The manual donorcord had a higher top speed of 120mph to the Accordions 109.
The accordion was on average faster in turns 2-5
Both cars had a similar top speed between turns 5-6 and 8-10, with maybe 2mph difference in favor of the manual.
The DonorCord was 3mph faster around the thumb and the carousel.

So fairly evenly matched, but it would seem the differences surely come down to the superior chassis of the Accordion along with it's aero. While the Accordion can out brake and out corner the DonorCord, the DonorCord can be in the right gear sooner for improved drive out of turns. The Accordion also has some drag from it's aero, likely contributing to it's lower top speed compare to the DonorCord.

Overall, an impressive showing for both cars!
